It feels funny writing about Christmas, like it was a really long time ago. But, we both had a lovely family Christmas at home with lots of get togethers, good food, and a present or two. It was lush to spend a few days in our homes, with a bit of pampering, time with partners and some cosy PJ days.
The house always feels so bare after the decs come down and get packed away, but our time off has given us time to do a few projects in our own houses. We can’t stay away from the paint brushes for long, it seems! We tackled both walls and furniture, using bold and neutral colours.
Extended time off, away from the day-to-day of the shop has given us time to refresh and focus on our plans for 2017, as well as popping into the shop to do some maintenance work, to keep our building and interior up-to-date and fresh. We’ve included a little more of Annie Sloan’s new Amsterdam, a gorgeous dark bottle green. We’ve had a move around, shortened our counter to make the studio space more inviting and tiled our studio kitchenette in smart subway tiles with a Paris Grey-coloured grout.
Whilst not painting and wielding screwdrivers, we made some exciting plans for 2017, including looking for new handmade stock to bring our customers everything we love about interiors and offering more inspiration using our Annie Sloan products including new workshops.
We have introduced a few workshops on Fridays and the Sunday market Sundays too, for people who can’t make our Saturday workshops. We are already in talks for our calendar of workshops for the second half of 2017, with a promise of more wreath workshops this year!
Our small stock room has a pile of furniture we have sourced in our break, so can’t wait to get painting and show you our great finds. First to be completed and in the shop is an amazing five section glazed bookcase that we couldn’t wait to get painted in our favourite Annie Sloan Graphite. We also finished a commission, an old fashioned larder cabinet in the fabulous Aubusson blue.
As part of our new chalk paint focus for 2017 we held our first free wax event, this included showing technique, giving samples of colours + wax to customers and we were offering a special price on the waxes for the day. The morning was a great success and we have more planned in, we are already looking forward to holding the next one. We love having interaction with our customers and offering more than just a shop service, our aim is to inspire you! hopefully we can do more of this.
